Documentary: Tracking the Monarch Migration
This half-hour documentary originally aired on the public radio program Soundprint in 2001. The story hearkens back to the early days of the Web, back when people still had dial-up modems and Facebook wasn’t even a twinkle in its inventors’ eyes.
Early each spring in Mexico, millions of monarch butterflies get ready for their journey north to the eastern Rockies. This year, a group of lucky schoolteachers are witnessing the preparation. They’ll take their findings home to their classrooms where students participate in an Internet-based curriculum. (See the Journey North site for more information.)
